Key Step Gymnastics Rotherham Schools Finals

Wednesday 24th February @ Rotherham Leisure Complex

Following our success at the gymnastics cluster competition last week. Five of our Year 5/6 pupils attended the Key Steps Gymnastics Rotherham Schools Finals at Rotherham Leisure Complex.

There were many schools from Rotherham taking part in the competition. Our team represented the school very well. Both boys from our team were picked out for their fantastic vault performance and were asked to show it to the rest of the schools taking part.

Despite an outstanding floor routine performance, where all our gymnasts scored in the 9s out of a maximum 10 points. We narrowly missed out on a winning place by less than one point, finishing second overall.

The team should be extremely proud of the hard effort and determination they put in. Their behaviour and the respect they showed to fellow gymnasts was exemplary. They are all a real credit to our school. Well done.

Key Stage 1 Athletics Festival

Tuesday 23rd February @ St Bernards

Sixteen children were selected from Year 1 and 2 to take part in the Key Stage 1 Athletics Festival held at St Bernards.

The children competed in races and were given taster sessions in javelin and standing long jump. This was a great experience for our infant children to take part in and learn about some of the different events in athletics.

All the children enjoyed the experience and their behaviour was outstanding.

Key Steps Gymnastics Festival

Thursday 18th February @ St Bernards

We took two Year 3/4 and two year 5/6 teams to represent our school at the Key Steps gymnastics competition at St Bernards. Its the first time we have competed and the first time St Bernards have hosted the competition.

They had to perform a floor routine to show their strength and flexibility and two vaults. All the gymnasts competed extremely well and should be proud of their performance and commitment as they gave up their break times to practice.

Our year 3/4 first team finished 2nd in their competition narrowly missing out on 1st place by less than one point! While our year 5/6 teams both finished in the top two positions. The Year 5/6 first team will now represent St Bernards in the foundation competition at the Rotherham Schools Finals next week. Well done to everyone who took part.

G4S Quarter Finals

30th January 2016 @ New York Stadium

G4S 2016

Our Year 6 boys football team headed to New York Stadium on Saturday to play in their own derby match against Herringthorpe Junior School during half time of the Rotherham V Charlton game.

Despite some fantastic passing and controlling of the ball the game finished a draw resulting in a penalty shoot out!

With some impressive shots and thanks to our goalkeeper Jacob ‘safe hands’ Kilbane the boys won on penalties. They are now through to the Semi-Finals.

Well done to all the boys for once again showing great team spirit and sportsmanship.
