Wednesday 24th February @ Rotherham Leisure Complex
Following our success at the gymnastics cluster competition last week. Five of our Year 5/6 pupils attended the Key Steps Gymnastics Rotherham Schools Finals at Rotherham Leisure Complex.
There were many schools from Rotherham taking part in the competition. Our team represented the school very well. Both boys from our team were picked out for their fantastic vault performance and were asked to show it to the rest of the schools taking part.
Despite an outstanding floor routine performance, where all our gymnasts scored in the 9s out of a maximum 10 points. We narrowly missed out on a winning place by less than one point, finishing second overall.
The team should be extremely proud of the hard effort and determination they put in. Their behaviour and the respect they showed to fellow gymnasts was exemplary. They are all a real credit to our school. Well done.
Tuesday 23rd February @ St Bernards
Sixteen children were selected from Year 1 and 2 to take part in the Key Stage 1 Athletics Festival held at St Bernards.
The children competed in races and were given taster sessions in javelin and standing long jump. This was a great experience for our infant children to take part in and learn about some of the different events in athletics.
All the children enjoyed the experience and their behaviour was outstanding.
Thursday 18th February @ St Bernards
We took two Year 3/4 and two year 5/6 teams to represent our school at the Key Steps gymnastics competition at St Bernards. Its the first time we have competed and the first time St Bernards have hosted the competition.
They had to perform a floor routine to show their strength and flexibility and two vaults. All the gymnasts competed extremely well and should be proud of their performance and commitment as they gave up their break times to practice.
Our year 3/4 first team finished 2nd in their competition narrowly missing out on 1st place by less than one point! While our year 5/6 teams both finished in the top two positions. The Year 5/6 first team will now represent St Bernards in the foundation competition at the Rotherham Schools Finals next week. Well done to everyone who took part.
4th February 2016 @ Winterhill
Well done to our Year 4 basketball team who represented St Bernards in the Rotherham Schools Finals which took place at Winterhill School.
The team played fantastic and finished third which is a great achievement.
Congratulations to all the team.
30th January 2016 @ New York Stadium
Our Year 6 boys football team headed to New York Stadium on Saturday to play in their own derby match against Herringthorpe Junior School during half time of the Rotherham V Charlton game.
Despite some fantastic passing and controlling of the ball the game finished a draw resulting in a penalty shoot out!
With some impressive shots and thanks to our goalkeeper Jacob ‘safe hands’ Kilbane the boys won on penalties. They are now through to the Semi-Finals.
Well done to all the boys for once again showing great team spirit and sportsmanship.
Tuesday 19th January @ St Bernards
This year ? girls and ? boys participated in the Sportshall Athletics held at St Bernards. They competed against the other Primary Schools from the St Bernards Learning Community.
Both the boys and girls team competed in various relay races and field events, including; javelin, chest push, standing long jump and speed bounce.
Some of the children who took part were representing our school for the first time in a competition. During the events it was pleasing to see the rest of the team supporting the athletes and encouraging them to do their best.
When the results were announced, we were thrilled to be announced as winners!
The team will now represent St Bernards in the Rotherham Schools Finals.
Congratulations to everyone who took part.

Our Year 6 football team took part in the Football Leagues Kids Cup organised by Rotherham United Community Sport Trust. The competition was held at the newly developed pitches at Thomas Rotherham College.
In total 14 teams attended and they were split into two mini leagues. There was some very hard fought games as all the teams had a good level of ability. Once again the boys showed good determination and sportsmanship throughout their matches and finished 3rd in their league.
Well done to all the boys who took part and to Thorpe Hesley who went on to win the competition.
The children who are attending the Matball after schools club took part in a Matball competition at St Bernards. This is the first time children from Key Stage 1 have represented our school in a competition.
They all tried their best and showed good team work. They finished 6th overall which is fantastic for their first competition. Well done to all those who took part.
